The recent flood catastrophe has demonstrated tragically the urgency for Austria to promote a better adaptation to climate change. Continuing to contribute to global emission reductions in line with ambitious European and national goals will also be important. Based on the analysis and recommendations of the recent OECD Economic Survey Austria the Danish-Austrian panel discusses how OECD economies can make further progress by making full use of carbon pricing, promoting deployment of renewables, the development of adequate grid and charging infrastructure and climate friendly innovation. Comparing the Danish and Austrian experiences in these areas, panelists shed light on policies that promote sustainable transport along with skills and updated job profiles required in a more sustainable economy. They explore options to cushion the social impacts of these changes.
